Pawtuxet Village sits on the border of Cranston & Warwick--divided by the Pawtuxet River. It’s a charming seaside village with great coffee shops, restaurants, & small bars along with beautiful waterfront scenery overlooking Narragansett Bay. It’s a good area to go for a day trip for a nice walk & lunch. There are a few restaurants you should definitely check out---Basta has amazing wood fired pizza & a great bar with a good wine list. There’s also O'Roarke’s, an Irish Pub--it’s a great place to sit outside with friends in the warmer months. Oh and don’t forget Felini Pizzaria, one of my favorite pizza places in RI & also PTX Lounge which is around the corner-- it’s a dark, cozy bar with great cocktails, their take on a cosmo is my favorite! There are also a couple coffee shops, an ice cream parlor, a liquor store & a couple small speciality shops.
Pawtuxet has a few claims to fame---Gaspee Days is at the end of May which has turned into a bit of an arts & crafts festival. There’s Music, food, all sorts of opportunities to spend money & a fireworks display! Parking is an issue so be prepared to hoof it. You do not want to get stuck in traffic this weekend in the area.
Rhodes On the Pawtuxet: is an event space that was built in the late 1800’s. It evolved into a Casino & now it’s event space that’s popular for weddings and other special events. The remaining building is on the National Register of Historic places.
Pawtuxet Cove Marina offers 98 seasonal slips & can handle boats up to 45 ft.--the shallow depth makes it only suitable for power boats.
A seaside village wouldn’t be complete without a Yacht Club. The Rhode Island Yacht Club is a private club in Stillhouse Cove. If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed you can head North about a mile and a half towards Providence & join the Edgewood Yacht Club for a low membership--maybe ~$700 for the year & enjoy the outdoor deck & bar & lots of social activities.
Real Estate prices in Pawtuxet vary. If you’re in the Edgewood neighborhood you’ll be in larger homes, many of which are stunning examples of the Victorian Era. There are some waterfront or waterview properties which always fetch a higher price.
As you head a little further South into Warwick the homes are smaller--it’s getting harder to find anything under $300k. I have a cute 2 bedroom bungalow a mile away at 271 Atlantic Av that I listed this past January 2022 for $298k it’s sure to be one of the few this year under 300k in the area.
Pawtuxet Village may be for you if you are looking for a walkable community in and around the Providence area! Want to know more---let’s chat!
